How Does One Compute God's Blessings?

July 23, 2010
This week a couple from our church surprised me with the purchase of a brand new computer.  They recognized a need as my old laptop limped to a slow, agonizing death.  They wish to remain anonymous.  Let me tell you, this couple is amazing.  They are genuine Christians who live out what they profess.  They took me to pick out the new one, really encouraged me to get the very best.  I am so blessed I can't even compute it.  The new laptop is primarily for my responsibilities as pastor.  However, GoldSash will benefit from it as well.

Books in Process

July 19, 2010
I am really excited about my new venture with thebookpatch.com.  I am using them to publish books.  The first children's book project is underway - The Night Owl Rooster at the Early Bird Barnyard.  My son, Nicholas, is working hard on the illustrations.  It's fun to be tag teaming with him.  I am equally jazzed to have a poetry book in the making.  Give Me Words is the culmination of many years' private prayer time, waiting on the LORD, the scribblings of a soul pounding out its faith in rea...

TRIUMPH Artwork

June 25, 2010

Yesterday I was granted permission to use just the perfect artwork for the cover of TRIUMPH.  The artist, Horseman, gave one condition - that the website always honor Christ, the very thing I hope to do.  You can read all about his artwork, (including his decision to use a green, leafy crown intertwined with the thorns, and the depiction of royalty in the purple robe), at his blog, http://crownofthecurse.blogspot.com/ .  I am so grateful.

Sundance released

June 21, 2010
Today Sundance was released.  What a fun song!  I really enjoy playing this one.  My first instrument was the trombone.  I played in the school band for three years until I became a gym rat in high school basketball.  But I continued crafting the skills on the slide by playing with the church worship team.  My brother Jamie played the trumpet.  Oh the musical improvisations!  I have fond memories.  And the crash cymbal from the trapset resounding just inches from my left ear.  That's probably...

Unexpected Compliments

June 8, 2010
My teenage son Zak looked at my website and said, "This is awesome!"  What an unexpected surprise.  He's just thoughtful like that.  It makes me think how powerful words are.  So to use the language of Proverbs, today, do I go around breaking bones, or imparting life?

En Cielo released

June 3, 2010
Very jazzed about this new piece.  Things fell together really nicely.  There's a breathy background vocal that disappears from the tune and is taken over by another wind instrument.  When I wrote it I felt it expressed the spirit leaving the body in an explosion of joy, that very moment of making heaven one's home, En Cielo.  I think it's some of my better work.

Up and Running...sort of

June 1, 2010
Today GoldSash Publishing took a giant step towards opening for the public.  The company name has been filed with the Secretary of State's office.  Documentation is requested with the County Clerk Recorder.  I registered with the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) as both a writer and publisher.  In the next few days the checking account will be opened.  Humble beginnings for what I hope to be a top-knotch music and writing source that will touch many lives.  I pra...
